Dave Chappelle on Inside the Actors Studio

I’d like to say that when I heard that Dave Chappelle left Chappelle’s Show and went to Africa, I trusted him, or at least respected his decision, but I thought he was crazy like everyone else. After watching this interview (his first after returning to the states), my opinion changed.

In this interview on Inside the Actors Studio, Dave talks about having professors for parents, moving from lily-white Ohio to D.C. during the crack boom, becoming a stand-up as a teenager, the expectations that were heaped on him following Chappelle’s Show’s success, and what his trip to Africa was all about.

For the past few years, Chappelle has been working on stand-up and if you can see him, do so. On WTF with Marc Maron, Chris Rock talked about having to follow Dave, saying , “Chappelle is the only man that puts fear in my heart. Like ‘Come on, goddamn. I don’t want to go on.'”
